Abstract

The process chain of AlSi10MgCu/Al2O3 from the characterization of feedstock materials to the final properties of samples after SLM was investigated. Initial AMC powder mixing was performed with a vortex layer system. A comprehensive characterization of the powders after mixing and microstructural features were performed. Selective laser melting regimes were optimized regarding the content of Al2O3 and the optimal processing window was investigated. Synthesized samples with 1,5% of Al2O3 content demonstrated increased hardness, yield, and tensile strength with about the same ductility compared with the initial AlSi10MgCu printed alloy. Obtained results demonstrated the feasibility of an electromagnetic vortex system for powders preparation and their application in selective laser melting.
