Abstract
THE energy released by the explosion of an atomic bomb is of a degree unsurpassed by anything known to man. In addition to large amounts of radioactive energy, great quantities of thermal and mechanical energy are released. It is the latter two that cause the great physical damage and large numbers of casualties.
