Abstract
Cellular Lightweight Concrete (CLC) blocks have gained popularity in the masonry market substantially in the last decade. Subsequently, the detailed characterization of its key engineering properties must be studied for the development of the mathematical model, analysis, evaluation, and design of structures made of the CLC block. This paper reports some of the important physical and strength properties of the CLC unit and masonry assemblage obtained experimentally. This includes water absorption and transmission properties, strength properties such as compressive strength, bond strength, Young’s modulus, stress-strain characteristics, and failure modes. The results presented in this paper will form the basis for the evaluation and design of CLC block masonry structures.
