Abstract

Secondary by product that is obtained while crushing and processing of rock is quarry dust as a fine aggregate. In addition to the replacement the concrete is developed as a self-compacting concrete (SCC) to avoid segregation and vibration in concrete. The study is made for the mechanical properties and micro structure analysis for the river sand that is replaced with quarry dust (QD), addition of alccofine and silica fume in self-compacting concrete. The both admixtures have cementitious and good mechanical properties. The replacement of QD for river sand is made for 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The maximum strength is achieved at 100% replacement of QD to the river sand. The level of C-S-H and pores are analyzed by microstructure analysis. Studied the concrete strength by compression testing, flexural testing, and split tensile testing and impact test for the different mixes. By the use of quarry dust, the waste that is produced in the quarry is also reduced.
