Abstract

In his column, AWWA Executive Director Jack Hoffbuhr discusses the meaning of the term “professional.” Hoffbuhr extends the meaning of professionalism to more than just completing training, earning certifications or graduating with a college degree. The true measure of a professional, he states, is based on character, dependability, and conscience. Committment to the mission of ensuring public safety and being responsible stewards of precious water resources is something every water professional should strive for and be measured by.
