Abstract

The foregoing experimental investigations have demonstrated the possibility of making a noncontact measurement of the gap between the piston and cylinder of an internal-combustion engine by fast-electron probing with unilateral access to the engine. No changes have to be made to the working parts of the engine, not do additional devices have to be inserted.
