Measuring the efficiency of international container ports with fuzzy DEA

Abstract

International container ports are necessary for global logistics because transport modes varies from ports to ports through transnational transportation in global logistics. Therefore, keeping international container ports on high efficiency is essential. Recently, the cargos dealt with in the international container ports have increased, so the ports with high efficiency have become more critical as well. Based on above, we take twelve container ports in Taiwan and neighborhood areas as our models for the example of efficiency measuring. We use fuzzy data envelopment analysis(fuzzy DEA) on measuring the efficiency of the twelve ports according to six fuzzy inputs and seven fuzzy outputs. The six fuzzy inputs and seven fuzzy outputs are presented by general fuzzy numbers. Through fuzzy DEA, we can easily and widely measure the efficiency of the twelve international container ports.
