Abstract

This chapter describes the everyday life of the inhabitants of Montenegro in the following areas based on empirical data analysis: consumption, family life, free time, cultural practices, value preferences, degree of satisfaction of respondents in different areas of everyday life and time budget. It describes the lifestyles of the strata of Montenegrin society based on the integration of empirical data. The chapter discusses the acceptability of Bourdieu’s theory, primarily based on empirical analysis. The most significant change in Montenegrin society is reflected in the significantly greater participation of husbands in making important family decisions. Cultural practice is a complex concept that includes needs, tastes and participation in the consumption of cultural content as well as all the values that influence it. The more educated spend significantly less time performing family activities and work significantly less part-time than the less educated. The lower strata spend significantly more time learning and more time doing family activities.
