Abstract

A research project is underway to determine a protocol for the estimation of modal activity distributions for specific road facilities. These distributions will be used together with various models to forecast emissions generated by motor vehicles. To obtain the modal activity, vehicle trajectories must be tracked very accurately. Video data collection was one of the methods employed for this tracking. To make accurate measurements from the video, a computerized system was devised. The primary purpose of this paper is to describe the video data collection and analysis, equipment required, preliminary results, and some future tasks.
