Abstract

Measuring and correcting for shaking of unstable platform is a problem in engineering, which has a significant effect on instruments precision. We proposed a measuring and correcting method for unstable platform based on videometrics. Take vehicle-mounted theodolite for instance. Determine nominal state of platform by external datum, and calculate platforms shaking related to nominal state utilizing pose estimation algorithms. Furthermore, correct theodolites observation error. We develop a measuring and correcting system. The method has been validated by experiments. Experiments results indicate that: 1) The systems sensitivity exceeds 3″; 2) Correcting error increases with shakings amplitude, and exceeds 16″ on condition that shakings amplitude is less than 13′.
