Abstract

A new technique has been developed that uses an acoustooptic modulator, a heterodyne detector, and 2-D raster-scanning mirrors to characterize laser-beam quality. The technique is described, and its preliminary performance is discussed in relation to the real-time 2-D phase and intensity profiles it produces and the computer data processing performed on those profiles.
