Abstract

The article is devoted to the analysis of information content of regional materials on the religious landscape of the Tyumen region. The article is based on documents from the fund of state security agencies deposited in the state archive of the socio-political history of the Tyumen region. Researchers can work with documents dated earlier than 1964. The materials describe a variety of methods of working with different faiths. In addition, the available data contain statistical information and socio-demographic characteristics of believers. Descriptions of religious practices and religious everyday life have been preserved. It is concluded that the materials of the regional state security agencies are an important source in the context of a lack of information about the religious situation in the Soviet provinces in the post-war USSR.
