Abstract

Experimental data are communicated on the velocity of sound in several organic liquids (carbon tetrachloride, benzene, ethyl-ether, carbon disulfide and toluene) between their respective boiling point and the melting point. The experimental method is described. Starting from those measurements and from known values of the density the adiabatic compressibility coefficient is computed.
