Abstract

The ratio between the bend elastic constant and the anisotropy of diamagnetic susceptibility of a lyotropic mixture of sodium decylsulfate, decanol, and water in the nematic calamitic phase is measured as a function of the temperature. This ratio is obtained by measuring the wavelength of a bend periodic distortion created by magnetic fields. The results are compared to others obtained with different lyotropic mixtures.
