Abstract

A Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor was used to measure the aero-optic effects of flow field around a half model of blunt nose cone with a side mounted window which installed in the test section of a supersonic wind tunnel. A series results were obtained under different test conditions during the experiment. Interesting optical parameters including PV, RMS, Strehl ratio and coefficients of Zernike polynomials were presented. While flow field reaches stable state after the wind tunnel startup, the relative error of wavefront aberration is very small, and the Shack-Hartmann wavefront sensor developed is credible to measure quantitatively the optical phase change of light traveling through the flow field around model window.
