Abstract

The experimental cross sections of nuclear reactions for the formations of 46,47,48Sc on titanium (i.e. the cross sections of all the neutron nuclear reactions that directly produce the same daughter nuclei 46Sc, 47Sc and 48Sc on titanium, expressed as the cross sections of the Ti(n,x)46Sc, Ti(n,x)47Sc and Ti(n,x) 48Sc reactions, respectively) were measured in the neutron energies range of 13.5–14.8 MeV via the activation technique. The first experimental cross-section data for the formation of 48Sc on titanium were presented. The theoretical excitation curves of the above three reactions in the neutron energies from the threshold to 20 MeV were obtained by adopting TALYS-1.95 with the adjusted relevant parameters. The cross-section values measured for the Ti(n,x)46Sc, Ti(n,x)47Sc and Ti(n,x)48Sc reactions and their theoretical excitation curves are significant for the design of fusion reactor and the related applications.
