Abstract

Ppolarization spectroscopy is applied to determine temperatures in flames. Spectra of the A 2Σ-X 2Π(0,0) system of the OH molecule were measured using polarization spectroscopy in a premixed atmospheric pressure acetylene-oxygen flame and in a Bunsen type propane-air flame. Rotational temperatures were determined from the measured spectra by the Boltzmann plotting method.
