Abstract

The differences Δσ L ( Δσ T) between proton-proton total cross sections for parallel and antiparallel longitudinal (transverse) spin states have been measured at six (seven) energies between 200 and 520 MeV. Point-to-point uncertainties vary from ± 0.41 mb to ± 1.21 mb for Δσ L; for Δσ T they vary from ± 0.33 mb to ± 0.73 mb. Both are subject to additional normalisation uncertainties of about ± 6.7%. Differences from data obtained by other groups are discussed.
