Abstract

Numerous electric field measurements were made in high and extra-high voltage stations. The location and magnitude of the maximum field strength were recorded in each station. Actual measured data are analyzed and presented together with a comparison of results from other countries. The measurements were found comparable to many published data. However, this work presents an overall description of the maximum field strength as a function of the station voltage level, design and arrangement of bus and station equipment. Cumulative distribution of ground level electric fields in various HV and EHV stations is presented. The information enables one to make observations on station design and operation requirements.
