Abstract
Systematic measurements of the dose mean restricted LET (L500,D, Delta =500 eV) in air and water are reported for X-rays ranging from 10 to 300 kVp. L500,D has been measured with a specially designed high-pressure tissue-equivalent (TE) ionization chamber. The water measurements are performed as a function of depth, field size and distance from the field edge. The experimental methods and results are described.
