Abstract

The 0.79 and 1.17 MeV levels of 36C1 and the associated γ-transitions following thermal neutron capture have been studied. From measurements of the correlation between direction and linear polarization of γ-rays, the following spins and E2/M1 mixing ratios δ 1 (for primary transitions) and δ 2 (for secondary transitions) have been found: for the 0.79 MeV level J φ = 3 +, δ 1 = 0.210±0.004, δ 2 = -1.1±0.4 and for the 1.17 MeV level J φ = 1 +, δ 1, = -0.47±0.10, δ 2 = 0.32±0.06.
