Abstract

A wet modification of the Frantz separator employing the isodynamic region gave accurate susceptibility measurements without calibration. Iron precipitates related to the electrolytic Zn industry were examined. Jarosites displayed a susceptibility of about 10−3 (SI units) and α- and β-FeOOH about 2 × 10−3. Zn electrolyte (Zn, 145 kg m−3) exhibited no significant magnetic properties.
