Abstract
A method of reconstructing surface relief based on a set of microscope images with different positions of the focus is proposed, minimizing the restoration error with prescribed reliability of the model used. The method of restoration is invariant to illumination conditions, optical instrument construction, image formation, and it may be applied to a wide variety of surfaces.
