Abstract
The popular methods of space charge distribution measurements are PWP method and PEA method. There are two ways by using of PEA methods and one way by using of Laser PWP method to measure the space charge distribution in a real long high voltage cable up to now. We will discuss the three ways to measure the space charge distribution for a real long HV cable. And generally, it has some uncertainties in the measuring results neither PEA method nor PWP method. But there is very few technique research and analysis to discuss the measuring error and the tolerance in measurements. In this paper, we report the possible measuring error and measuring tolerance in PWP method measurement. From the preliminary analysis of the experimental results, the space charge behavior in the polyethylene sample is very complicated. The uneven laser intensity and the non-uniformity of the space charge injection will cause some error in the measurement results.
