Abstract

Solubility of mitomycin C drug in ethanol–water solutions was measured at different temperatures (0–50°C) using high performance liquid chromatography. It was observed that the solubility of mitomycin C increases with temperature up to certain concentration of ethanol–water, after that it reduces due to several solute–solvent actions. The process is quite useful for developing nano-crystals of mitomycin C by changing the concentration of co-solvent mixture. From the observations of the present study, it may be suggested that for cardiovascular, ophthamalic and cancer applications of mitomycin C one can use ethanol–water co-solvent mixture for deriving nano-crystals. A modified Apelblat equation was used to correlate the experimental data.
