Abstract

Power-frequency measurements are reported on both a single-phase and 3-phase grouping of 1300 mm2 solid rods to establish a.c./d.c. resistance-ratio techniques that may be used with confidence under normal laboratory conditions. A distinction is made between skin and proximity losses for the optimum location of potential leads. Thermal measurements enable the distribution of loss in the 3-phase grouping to be resolved.
