Abstract

A method for measuring the D↘0 target polarization in a strong magnetic field (B=4Bc,Bc=11.7 mT) is described. Measurements of the tensor polarization of a D↘0 gas target with different cell wall materials are presented. The polarization measurements were made on cells of two different geometries in order to assess the effect of wall collisions on the polarization of the target. The temperature of the cells was varied over the range 20 K<T<300 K. These strong field test results are compared to previous measurements of the polarization of a H↘0 gas target in cells of similar geometry and wall material in a weak magnetic field (B=0.5 mT).
