Abstract

In this paper, the pickup coils assembly in vacuum vessel of Damavand tokamak is used as a discrete Rogowski coil. An important advantage of this approach is the insensitivity of discrete Rogowski coil to magnetic fields created by the external excitation and equilibrium coils. Three interpolation methods are compared to evaluate the magnetic field between pickup coils with experimental data. The lowest error for estimating current is obtained by piecewise quadratic interpolation method. Moreover, the sensitivity to magnetic noise of this approach is investigated by introducing statistical error. According to the results, this array can measure plasma current with considerably better accuracy than a continuous external Rogowski coil.
