Abstract

Four insulation defects including protrusion, free particles, void in insulating spacer and surface contamination are implemented in a 110kV Gas Insulated Swichgear (GIS). Partial discharge (PD) signals are acquired in both phase resolved partial discharge pattern (PRPD) and time resolved partial discharge pattern (TRPD) using the IEC60270 and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) method. For analysing the relationship between the two techniques, apparent discharge against energy of UHF signals of PD pulses is plotted. A Fuzzy C-Means Clustering (FCM) is classified for both the principal components of the PRPD feature sets and UHF/IEC60270 data, and by fusing the cluster results through Dempster-Shafer theory, a comprehensive PD identification system is built. Finally, several recognition results are reported with examples to illustrate possible usage in PD identification and verify the performance
