Abstract

A combination N-silicon/stainless steel electrode is suitable for the measurement of water-soluble organic acids with K ion values exceeding 1·10 -6. A commercial acid concentration meter was used for the measurements; the standardization control permits a nearly linear response to the acids over the range 0.001– 0.050 N. Because of the semiconductor temperature sensitivity, precise measurements require the use of temperature compensation. The combination electrode eliminates the problems found routinely with the standard alkali titration.
