Abstract

Perturbed polarization-directional angular correlation by external magnetic field proves to be useful to determine the magnetic moment of a nuclear excited state when anisotropy in the conventional directional-directional angular correlation is very small. This method has been applied to the 70 keV52+ level in 177Ta and the magnetic moment of this level has been found to be +(4.7±0.5)μN.
