Abstract

A simple instrument for measuring magnetic field gradients with one-half percent accuracy is described, consisting of a small search coil vibrated at 100 cps by a loudspeaker. The application of this instrument to field gradient measurements on a magnet with hyperbolic pole pieces is described, together with some considerations on constant gradient shimming.
