Abstract

The K-shell internal conversion coefficient, α K, for the 91.5 keV 2 +→0 + transition in the decay of 164Ho to 164Er was measured by the K X-ray/γ ratio method with scintillation crystals. Photons seen by the NaI detector were required to be in coincidence with continuous beta rays in order to eliminate effects of the competing electron capture decay of 164Ho to 164Dy. The experimental conversion coefficient α K = 1.31±0.11 agrees with the presently available theoretical values for an E2 transition.
