Abstract

The half-life of the isometric state in 206Pb has been measured by a method based on analysing the integral distribution of time intervals between successive pulses from a single detector. The principles of the method and its applicability to the determination of the half-lives of long-lived states populated in the decay of radioactive sources are discussed.
