Abstract

This paper explores, theoretically and experimentally the use of surface and embedded mountings with transducer attached for the measurement of free field vibrations on the ground surface. A theoretical study for both vertical and horizontal vibrations has been carried out. Field measurements of vibrations generated by an electromagnetic vibrator and by a falling weight have been made at sandy and clayey sites. Comparisons between vibration observations and predictions indicate an approximate level of agreement.
