A review is made of the development and application of an approach to the determination of three-dimensional numerical fracture parameters. These parameters are determined by an experimental laboratory method to bridge the gap due to the absence of full-scale proof tests for large structures such as nuclear pressure vessels, bridges, storage tanks, and solid-propellant motors
