Abstract

A video imaging method for measuring motion by analyzing the optical flow of the video image sequence using spatial–temporal Fourier transform is presented. The principle of measuring motion in the spatial–temporal Fourier domain is given and its performance is studied by computer simulation. The feasibility of this technique in measuring the flow speed of a highly turbid demixing binary liquid mixture where conventional optical methods (such as PIV and LDA) cannot be used is demonstrated.
