Abstract

Fission ratio measurements provide information in studies of the neutron events in both thermal and fast reactors. Commonly induced fission product activity in fissile foils is counted. This paper describes the use of a technique for counting fission tracks in plastic films which have been etched after irradiation to make tracks visible. The tracks have been counted using standard microscopy techniques and an automatic technique. Both methods are potentially of high accuracy, the latter removes the laborious work of counting tracks by eye.
