Abstract

A methodology is presented to measure technology exchanges, considering many possible means of international technology exploitation, collaboration and generation. This is applied to Asia and Europe, which are experiencing an interesting increase in many and diverse technology exchanges. However, the technology exchange between these two areas is not as intense as that within each region and with the USA; they are not exploiting fully the potential advantages of such exchange and collaboration. The Asia-Europe technology exchange appears to show a remarkable asymmetry, with larger flows from Asia, and notably Japan, into Europe than the other way. Copyright , Beech Tree Publishing.
