Abstract

The adhesive force between single-walled carbon nanotube (SWNT) and Ti is measured by lateral force microscope. Lateral calibration is conducted prior to the measurement using silicon grating. The adhesive force could be deduced by lateral force, which is calculated by calibration factor times lateral force signal. The results show that the adhesive force is several hundred nN for welded and unwelded samples. However, the welded SWNT shows bigger interaction force with Ti substrate than the unwelded SWNT.
