Abstract

Summary A clay membrane electrode has been used to determine the activity of some surfactant cations. The critical micelle concentrations of cetylpyridinium bromide, dodecylpyridinium bromide and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide have been calculated by observing the change in e.m.f. with change in the concentration of surfactant solution. The values obtained are in reasonable agreement with those reported in the literature.
