Abstract

The application of solid-state track recorders to the determination of fission ratios in a zero power fast is reactor is demonstrated. Although measurements of limited accuracy may be made counting tracks visually, automatic track counting using a “Quantimet B” television image analyser is shown to be capable of a precision comparable with that of the conventional foi1 activation technique. Measurements of the 238U/235U fission ratio in several assemblies have shown no significant differences between the results obtained by the two method.
