Abstract
The excitation functions of the reactions 197 Au(α, x n) 201−x, x = 1 to 8 were obtained by irradiation of stacked foils with α-particles of 104 MeV and subsequent measurement and analysis of the γ-ray spectra. A Monte Carlo calculation was carried out on the basis of the equilibrium statistical model and satisfying agreement with the measured cross sections in the complete range of energies was reached.
