Abstract

The recently introduced degree of electron correlation is evaluated for the strongly asymmetric (planetary atom) doubly excited states of a helium atom. This characteristic is compared with the degree of configuration mixing put forward to characterize deviations from the Hartree-Fock approximation. The basic difference between two measures of electron correlation is revealed and discussed.
