Abstract

Due to its unique dual economic and cultural attributes, tourism has become an important driving force for regional economic growth and economic transformation. Shaanxi Province has rich cultural and tourism resources. The development of Shaanxi Province's tourism industry has important theoretical and practical significance for promoting the implementation of China's Belt and One Road strategy. Based on the inbound tourism data from 23 tourist source countries in four continents including Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Oceania from 2010 to 2016, the paper builds a fixed-effect regression model of panel data, and from the geographical space, the related factors on the inbound tourism in Shaanxi from four continents were studied respectively. The study found that: Per capita GDP, total import and export investment, and cultural distance in each country are important determinants of tourism in Shaanxi; And the factors affecting Asian countries' tourism in Shaanxi are not only the per capita GDP and the total import and export trade, but also the cultural distance. Cultural distance becomes a factor that is significantly positively correlated; the European and American countries' visits to Shaanxi are significantly related to the number of people in each country, the total amount of import and export trade, and the cultural distance. According to the conclusions, corresponding countermeasures and suggestions are proposed, such as strengthening integrated marketing and tracking changes in the population of the source country.
