Abstract

In Reply.— The conservative figure for seroconversion after live measles virus vaccine administered at 15 months of age is given as "at least 95%."1 In many of the actual studies seroconversion, when tested by sensitive serologic techniques, is actually higher, 97% to 100%.2-4 To our knowledge, no one has studied, comprehensively, a large group of nonreactors to determine whether: (1) they are genetically incapable of responding, (2) they will respond to a second dose, or (3) they are actually immune but not detected by the tests employed.
