Abstract

We propose a method to decide a strategic planting in agriculture. The method decides which crops should be planted and how much area should be assigned to each of the crops in order to secure a steady income in agricultural management. This minimizes the risk of the profits and to maximize the expected interest. In this analysis, we employ a mean-variance analysis to deal with this problem, which has been proposed by H. Markowitz (1987). We employ a Boltzmann machine to solve a mean-variance model. In a numerical discussion, we employ the cost data of vegetable production in Nagano Prefecture.
