Abstract
The research was framed in the context of the transformation of work, especially the located in the academy. The analysis was of the configuration of the meaning of work and the sense of the profession in a group of Colombian university teachers, analyzed the metamorphosis of the university and the emergence of academic-capitalism. Quantitative data were collected through a questionnaire assessing working conditions, workload, workplace wellness, burnout and engagement, applied to 160 teachers in four Colombian cities. Qualitative information was obtained through open questions in the questionnaire and a group interview. The professionals expressed moderate satisfaction with their working conditions at the academy. The discomfort associated with the perception of work overload, of precarious contractual conditions and loss of identity links with academy. It is a source of psychosocial stress, tension between the sense of the profession and the new academic order.

La investigación estuvo enmarcada en el contexto de las transformaciones del trabajo en la academia universitaria colombiana. El análisis fue la configuración del significado del trabajo y del sentido de la profesión en un colectivo de profesorado universitario colombiano, analizando la metamorfosis de la universidad y la irrupción del capitalismo académico. Se recolectaron datos cuantitativos mediante un cuestionario de evaluación de condiciones de trabajo, carga de trabajo, bienestar laboral, burnout y engagement, aplicado a 160 docentes universitarios de cuatro ciudades colombianas. La información cualitativa fue obtenida a través preguntas abiertas del cuestionario y entrevista grupal. Los profesionales expresaron una moderada satisfacción con sus condiciones de trabajo en la academia. Se destacó el malestar asociado a la percepción de sobrecarga de trabajo, precarización de las condiciones contractuales y pérdida de vínculo identitario con la academia. Es fuente de estrés psicosocial, la tensión entre el sentido de la profesión y el nuevo orden académico
