Abstract

Mean lives of five 2s2p3 terms in each of the 6-electron ions Ne V, Mg VII, and Al VIII have been measured using the techniques of beam-foil spectroscopy. An ion beam energy of 2 MeV was used for Ne and 5 MeV for Mg and Al. The wavelength range covered was 245-575 Å. Experimental results are compared with predicted trends of oscillator strength as a function of 1/Z.
