Abstract

Phenomenological models of nuclear matter based on meson theory in the mean field approximation are investigated. In particular, the vector meson mean field function is studied in detail. It is shown that the low experimental compression modulus of nuclear matter places severe constraint on the form of the vector meson mean field function. Meson mean field functions taking into account nuclear correlation effects are discussed.
